Administrative historyThe Medical Council was formed in 1842 to give expert advice to the Governors of St Bartholomew's Hospital, and comprised all physicians and surgeons serving the Hospital. In the later twentieth century, the Medical Staff Office dealt with both Medical Committees and Medical Staffing, for which reason the records are grouped together.
