| Administrative history | This department was founded in 1913 when Sydney Holland (later 2nd Viscount Knutsford) persuaded the cardiac specialist, Sir James Mackenzie, to head what was to be the first department of its kind after the St. Antoine in Paris. Following the establishment of Barts and The London NHS Trust in 1994, the Department transferred to St. Bartholomew's Hospital |
